FAQs

What is a Digital Twin?

Digital Twins are 3D virtual replicas of buildings, infrastructure, and other physical assets connected to the data in and around them. Digital Twins are used primarily to optimize performance and predict and visualize future outcomes across functional areas in cities like maintenance, energy consumption, space utilization, traffic management, and public safety.

Can you provide examples of clients we might know who use the Cityzenith Digital Twin System, SmartWorldPro?

Our client base hails from the architecture, engineering, planning, property management, real estate development, and municipality sectors. Previous and current clients include JLL, Cushman & Wakefield, Lendlease, Foster + Partners, WS Atkins, the Government of Andhra Pradesh, and the UK East West Rail Alliance, among many others.

What is a BAM?

A BAM or Baseline Asset Model is the building block of the Digital Twin. Often referred to as “BIM-lite” or “mini BIM”, a BAM is a geometrically simplified 3D model of a building or property containing the locations of rooms, floors, major equipment, and major building information systems only. A BAM is not used for construction, unlike a BIM. A BAM repurposes objects and data from the BIM for asset management and operational purposes over the lifecycle of the building. SmartWorldPro is a digital Twin platform that allows users to transform a BIM into a BAM to which they can integrate and attach virtually unlimited sources of information.

What information is needed to create a Digital Twin?  How long does it take?

It takes as little as a week to get a basic Digital Twin up and running with basic information. Our modeling services team can produce LOD3-4 Digital Twins, from a variety of sources including BIM, CAD, GIS, PDF, and many other spatial and non-spatial data file formats.

Can I host my data on a regional AWS server?

Yes. We currently have our platform hosted on AWS in the US and in Europe, and we can create an additional isolated instance in any of the AWS regions that are closest to you. We can also host SmartWorldPro on an isolated server on premise as required.

SmartWorldPro supports the following building and data formats:

  • Revit
  • Bentley iModel
  • Trimble
  • SketchUp

What type of browser do I need to run SmartWorldPro?

SmartWorldPro can be used on any MAC or PC laptop or desktop. The preferred browser is Chrome.

How Do I import data into SmartWorldPro?

Our WARP feature allows users to import spatially enabled and non-spatial data sets, by simply attaching them either to existing Smart City layers or files that users upload themselves. Supported common file formats include but are not limited to:

  • Shapefile
  • GeoJSON
  • Text
  • DWG
  • JSON
  • KML
  • DXF
  • CSV
  • XML

WARP allows users to import not only static files, but also to connect to any dynamic API that supports JSON or XML.

What kind of data comes with SmartWorldPro?

Out of the box, users receive hundreds of 3D city models around the world, as well as both public and subscription-based municipal data.  Contact sales for a complete list of available data sets in your region.

How do I know if data is updated?

Data sets that come out of the box with SmartWorldPro are updated in real-time, hourly, daily, monthly or yearly, depending on the source. Data streaming from IOT systems can change every minute; data from the municipal building department for Energy Star scores for individual commercial buildings is made available once every year. Direct API connections ensure that SmartWorldPro users receive information as quickly as it is updated at the source.

How do I import a BIM model?

You can import BIM models from your desktop in seconds, not hours. Our InstaBIM feature allows conversion of BIM models into shareable web models that can be used by anyone. You can stand up a whole city of BIM models in a matter of minutes, along with any underlying databases inside the models. These databases can then be transformed and linked to other layers in SmartWorldPro.
